  1. Visit SSUP (Self-Service Aadhar portal) for updating aadhar card.
  2. Click here to visit SSUP.
  3. The screen gives you two options to choose from. Click for online update.
  4. The screen prompts you for aadhar number, captcha and click on get OTP.
  5. You will receive the OTP on your registered mobile number.
  6. Once the OTP is validated the following options will appear
    • Name
    • Gender
    • Date of Birth
    • Address
    • Mobile Number
  • Tick mark the ones you want to update.
  • Correct Your Name / Address / Mobile Number, Be sure to check your local language too. Click for Next option.
  • Now upload a scanned copy of original required documents for correction. (Can be passport, driving license, basically a government authorized ID proof etc.)
  • Incase you requested an update in email ID you donot need to provide any identification proof.
  • Note down your Update request number (URN) to check the UID/Aadhar correction status later on.

How to update Aadhar card by post only for Demographic Details?

  1. Visit SSUP (Self Service Aadhar portal) for updating aadhar card.
  2. Click here to visit SSUP.
  3. The screen gives you two options to choose from. Click for update by Post.
  4. Download and fill in the V2 Form for updates.Send the completed V2 form and supporting documents to UIDAI, Post Box No. 99, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad – 500034 India
  5. Mark the envelope as “Aadhaar Update/Correction” on top in bold.
  6. When the form and documents are received at the office you receive a URN number on your registered mobile number.
  7. This URN helps you in keeping track of your request.

Aadhar card update by visiting the center:

This helps you to update both demographic and biometric data.

  1. Visit the closest permanent enrollment center with your original documents
  2. Fill in the form and provide your supporting documents. The documents will be scanned and returned to you.
  3. A URN will be sent on your registered mobile numbers only.
  4. Keep a track of your status by this URN number.

How to check Aadhar card update status?

You can check the status of your aadhar card correction by the following steps:

  1. Have your URN (Update request number) and aadhar number ready.
  2. Go to : https://ssup.uidai.gov.in/web/guest/check-status
  3. Enter your aadhar number.
  4. Enter your URN.
  5. Solve Captcha
  6. Click on Get status.

The status of your update request will be shown!

FEES: A fee of Rs 25/- will be collected from you for the update.

How much time will Aadhar card update take to reflect?

The maximum updation window is 90 days. Your update request will be cross-checked by UIDAI representative. Once your request is approved, you can download your e-Aadhaar by clicking online before it reaches you via mail. Updated Aadhaar card will be delivered to the given address only in case of updation in Name, Address, Date of Birth and Gender.

With the process getting more streamlined, some people have reported that within 7-10 days also their updated details were reflected.

For Update in Mobile number/Email ID, only a notification will be sent on the given mobile number/email ID.

  14. Kissan Photo Passbook.
  15. CGHS/ECHS Photo card.
  16. Address card having name and photo, issued by the Department of Posts.
  17. Certificate of identity having photo issues by Gazetted Officer or Tehsildar on an official letterhead.
  18. Disability ID card.
  19. Affidavit executed on a non-judicial stamp paper.
  20. Marriage certificate.
  21. Proof of marriage document issued by a Registrar.
  22. Gazette notification.
  23. Legal name change certificate.

For Aadhar Card Date of Birth (DOB) Update

  1. Birth Certificate.
  2. Passport.
  3. SSLC Certificate.
  4. Certificate of Date of Birth issued by a Group A Gazetted Officer on the official letterhead.

For Aadhar Card Address Update

  1. Bank statement or passbook.
  2. Passport.
  3. Ration Card.
  4. Voter ID.
  5. Driving license.
  6. Government photo ID card/service photo ID card issued by PSU.
  7. Electricity bill (must be recent and not over 3 months old).
  8. Water bill (must be recent and not over 3 months old).
  9. Telephone landline bill (must be recent and not over 3 months old).
  10. Property Tax receipt (must be recent and not over 3 months old).
  11. Credit Card statement (must be recent and not over 3 months old).
  12. Insurance policy.
  13. A signed letter having photo from bank on the letterhead.
  14. A signed letter having photo from registered company on letterhead.
  15. A signed letter having photo issued by recognized educational institution on letterhead.
  16. NREGS job card.
  17. Arms license.
  18. Pensioner card.
  19. Freedom fighter card.
  20. Kissan passbook.
  21. CGHS/ECHS card.
  22. Certificate of address having photo issued by MP/MLA/Gazetted officer/Tehsildar on letterhead.
  23. Certificate of address issued by village panchayat.
  24. Income tax assessment order.
  25. Vehicle registration certificate.
  26. Registered agreement of sale, lease, or rent.
  27. Photo identity card issued by Department of Posts.
  28. Case and Domicile Certificate with photo issued by State Government.
  29. Disability ID card/handicapped medical certificate.
  30. Gas connection bill (should be recent and not over 3 months old).

  1. what about the re-validating biometric data for Aadhar cards in case of age group between above 10 yrs & below 15 yrs? Whether they should re-validate the biometric only after 10 yrs?
